1) When does Camp operate?

Camp operates Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 4pm.
Before Camp care is available starting at 8:30am for a fee of $10 per child per day.
Nursery program operates M-F 9:30am to 1:30pm.
2) What is the age range of campers?
Campers range from 3 years old as of July 1st and toilet-trained for the Nursery program, through 14 years old.
3) How large is Goldens Bridge Day Camp?
We are a not-for-profit camp that accepts up to 80 campers total.
4) How many campers are in a group?
Groups are divided by age/grade in school and are usually 10-15 campers per group.
5) How many counselors are in a group?
At least two counselors.
6) Other than counselors, what other staff is there?
We have a Director, Assistant Director, Health Supervisor, Lifeguards, and a staff of specialists that teach each of our daily activities (e.g. Nature, Art, Drama and Sports).
7) How long has the Goldens Bridge Day Camp been in operation?
Goldens Bridge Day Camp is located in a private residential lake community known as “the colony”.  It began in the 1930’s as a day camp for colony residents only.  However, over the years Camp has been extended to include children from the surrounding communities.
8) What activities are offered at Goldens Bridge Day Camp?
We have our own lake where our campers enjoy both instructional and free swim each day. We have 17 acres of undeveloped land for hiking and overnight camping  (which is available to campers ages 7 and older). We offer arts & crafts, ceramics, nature, drama, boating, canoeing, folk dancing and sports on our playground/field.
9) Describe a typical day.
The entire camp meets first thing for a morning meeting/circle. We talk about who may be having a birthday and special activities that will take place that day or week.  Then groups divide up and go to their 1 hour long activities.  At the end of the day there is a free swim for the whole camp from 2:45–4pm.  Nursery program has their own instructional/free swim time from 12:30–1:30pm.
10) Do parents provide lunch and snack?
Yes.  Please provide both snack and lunch with a drink for your child/ren.  We will refrigerate lunches.
11) Is transportation provided?
No.  You need to bring your child to the barn each morning at 9:30am (or 8:30am for early drop-off) and pick him/her up at 4pm at the lake.
12) What types of activities are offered for the older campers?
We have our oldest campers work with the younger groups to get experience with children –- similar to counselors-in-training.  Also, oldest campers do special projects around Camp (e.g. last year they built a ping-pong table and cleared campsites for our overnights).
13) Describe the Nursery program.
The Nursery program functions on its own due to the young age of the children. Nursery has their own activities which are usually 30 to 45 minutes in length. Nursery eats lunch together and then ends their day with their own instructional/free swim at the lake.  Throughout the summer, Nursery may make a few field trips.
14) Does the Camp take any field trips?
Yes.  In past years we have gone by bus to the Bronx Zoo, on the Hudson River Clearwater Sloop, Catskill Game Farm, and to Splashdown.  Some of the younger groups have gone on a train ride into Katonah for a visit to the library and for ice cream at Scoops and to Muscoot Farm.
